If you are looking for free ways to make some extra money online, you may have heard of TimeBucks.

But is TimeBucks legit and really a great way to earn some extra cash, or is it a scam that is just a waste of time?

I have tested the platform thoroughly and have been a member for several years.

And let me just reveal right away that Timebucks is a legitimate platform and I have been paid by it many times myself (I will show you proof of payment below), so I know it is safe and a real way to earn and not one of the fake scams. However, this does not necessarily mean that it is the right option for you.

This TimeBucks review will show you all the details and exactly what it offers, and I will share my experience with the site and show you some TimeBucks tricks to get the most out of the site if you decide to join.

After reading this review you will be able to see if it is worth joining or if you should spend your time on other sites instead.

What is TimeBucks and what does it offer?

TimeBucks is an online rewards site where you can earn money in a variety of ways. It is also known as a GPT (Get-Paid-To) site.

It is completely free to join and use, as are all legitimate GPT sites.

It is owned by Australian Clearing Pty Ltd, but it is available worldwide, but we will talk more about availability later.

A lot of what it has to offer is similar to other paid survey sites and online rewards portals, but it also has some features that are unique and that I have not seen on other sites. Whether these are great opportunities or distractions depends on what you are looking for.

One thing to know is that TimeBucks is constantly developing and adding new ways to earn. Sometimes they also remove methods if they find that they are not working very well. For example, when I first joined, there was a ‘grow a beard’ challenge and you could earn by taking selfies.

These methods are no longer available, but other ways of earning have been introduced in their place. So just be aware that there may be even more opportunities than what you find in this review, although I try to keep it up to date.

But let’s go through what the site has to offer one by one so you can see if it’s worth it for you or not.

Option 1 – Paid surveys:

TimeBucks offers a large number of paid surveys. You can take surveys through a number of different providers while you are logged in and get paid into your TimeBucks account.

Most of the surveys are offered through survey routers or offer walls. The great thing about this is that you can find lots of surveys in most countries. The downside is that it can sometimes take some patience to find the surveys you qualify for.

But the survey options on TimeBucks are pretty good.

You can find many paid surveys on TimeBucks.

For example, above you can see that the reward for completing a survey through Your Survey is $0.875. These surveys are offered on many GPT sites, but this is actually one of the highest rewards you can find for them.

Overall, surveys are one of the best ways to earn on Timebucks and definitely a section to check out when you join. There are many different types of surveys.

Exactly how many surveys are available depends on the country you live in, although there are surveys for most countries. If you do not have a lot of surveys available, there are other ways to earn TimeBucks.

Option 2 – Watch videos:

TimeBucks offers a couple of different ways to earn by watching videos in the video section.

One of them is the same as most other GPT sites, where you have to watch 3 videos + ads within a certain topic. And they also have small separate videos where you get paid when you have watched a certain amount of seconds.

There are many videos available, but they are not the highest paying option.

You can find these videos by going to the ‘Content’ tab in the earnings section, then scroll down and find the ‘Advertising’ tab.

In a way, this is an easy way to make a little extra money. However, the rewards for this option are very low, so it’s not an option you’d use to really boost your earnings, but it’s nice to earn a bit if it’s a video you’d like to watch anyway.

What I also like is that the terms and conditions for each video are very clear on TimeBucks. This makes it easy to see if it is worth your time or not.

In addition to these video options, you can also earn by watching YouTube videos. You can find this option by going to the ‘Engage’ tab.

You will then be directed to sign up to a third party site where you can earn money by watching random YouTube videos.

It takes a few minutes to set up, but there are good guides explaining exactly how it works, and once set up you get paid quite well for each video you watch, compared to most other ways of earning by watching videos.

At the time of writing, they are offering up to $0.01 per video you watch, but this can vary from country to country and from time to time.

Option 3 – Offerwalls:

There is an offerwall section where you can access a number of different offers. For example, you can get paid to download apps, sign up to a website, try a product for free, etc.

There are many offer walls within TimeBucks – these are just a few examples.

The image above shows just a few of the offerwalls you can find, as Timebucks gives access to around 12 walls at last count, and each of these walls gives access to many offers.

Some of these offers have really good rewards. Most of them are also offered by other survey sites such as PrizeRebel or ySense, so if you generally prefer to use one of these sites, you will probably find the offers there too.

Option 4 – Content options:

The Content tab within Timebucks gives you access to several different ways to earn.

In fact, at the time of writing, you can find 3 different ways to earn in this section alone.

Examples of how you can earn from content.

For example, you can earn by clicking on small ads and visiting a website or video for a certain number of seconds. You can also earn by liking the TimeBucks Facebook page and more.

In the past, you could also earn by watching slideshows. This option is no longer available, but in my opinion it is not a big loss as it gave very low earnings.

In this section you will also find the following earning opportunities:

Engaged hits (you can earn by installing software that automatically plays videos)
Push clicks (get paid for clicking on ads delivered as push notifications to your browser)

While I was a member, it also offered a few other options below, but at the time of updating this Timebucks review, they are no longer available.

You used to be able to get paid to search, earning up to $0.01 per online search, depending on the country you live in. This is no longer available, but as mentioned above, the platform regularly tests different ways to earn, so it may come back at some point.

There used to be a separate section where you could get paid for watching YouTube videos. This section is no longer available, but you can still earn money by watching YouTube videos, as these videos are now part of the Ad Clicks option mentioned above.

The great thing about the Content section is that you can always find ways to earn, no matter what country you live in.

Some of the options in this section will not make you a lot of money, but the tasks are generally easy and quick to complete.

Option 5 – Micro-tasks

Timebucks has a section called simply ‘Tasks’.

Here you can get paid for various types of tasks such as downloading apps, watching YouTube videos, visiting certain websites, following people on social media, etc.

There are many tasks that do not take much time, but not all of them offer a good value for your time.

These tasks have been created by other Timebucks members, as not everyone offers fair pay for your time. So choose these tasks wisely.

You can always just decide which tasks you want to do, and you can see the requirements and the pay before you start. And if you choose wisely, it can be an easy way to earn some extra cash.

But overall, Timebcuks is actually one of the best micro-task platforms in my opinion, as it has more tasks and better conditions than most other platforms offering similar jobs.

Option 6 – Get cash back when you shop online

Personally, I love it when GPT sites have a cash back option. This means that you can get cash back when you shop online at certain stores that they have partnered with.

TimeBucks also used to have this option and it could be a great way to earn/save some money if you shop online anyway.

You could use this option if you have ever shopped at Ali Express.

The cashback rates offered by TimeBucks for Ali Express.

However, TimeBucks never had as many options as the top cashback sites, and my theory is that they stopped doing this to focus on offering other tasks and specialising in them, which makes sense in my opinion.

I just wanted to mention it in this review as many people have asked me where to find it now, so I wanted to make it clear that this is no longer an option on Timebucks as of the update of this review.

Option 7 – Invite people to join

You can invite other people to join TimeBucks and get paid a commission for doing so.

You used to be paid in 5 steps. However, they have simplified the referral programme so that it is now similar to the referral programmes on many other GPT sites.

Now you get a 10% commission on the earnings of anyone who joins Timebucks through your referral link.

Just be aware that you will only get the commission if your referral has verified their ID.

Once you join and start using it yourself, it is a very good idea to invite others to join as well. You will earn the same whether they join through your link or not, as the commissions are paid out of TimeBucks’ pocket.

Option 8 – Advertise:

You can use TimeBucks to advertise. The options you have here vary, but for example you can advertise YouTube videos.

So if you have a YouTube video that you would like to get more views on, you can promote it here. You choose how many views you want, from which countries, age group and more, and then pay for them. Other members will then be paid to watch your video.

Personally, I do not use this method to promote my videos as it can have some risks. But if you know what you are doing and are aware of the risks, it can be an easy way to promote your videos to a specific audience.

Option 9 – Daily competition:

Every day the top 100 Timebucks earners will be rewarded with extra cash. The first place earns $5, the 51st to 100th place earns $0.10.

They used to only reward the top 5 earners daily, but then the rewards were higher. This has changed now, so they are giving smaller rewards, but a lot more users are getting a reward. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on your personal preference, but this is how it works now.

And it is not that difficult to earn enough to be at the top, so this can be a great way to make a very nice extra reward.

How do you get paid?

As you can see, TimeBucks has a number of ways for you to earn some money. Every time you complete a task on the platform, you are paid in dollars. But once you have earned money, how can you use it or get it?

TimeBucks currently offers a few different payment methods, which are Litecoin, PayPal, Payeer, AirTM, Bank Transfer (via Wise), Virtual Visa and Skrill.

Timebucks offers many payment methods.

PayPal was not an option for a while, but it has been added back as a payout option. At the same time, Timebucks has added Virtual Visa Cards, so there are now two more great ways to get paid if you prefer to be paid in cash. And it even offers bank transfer payments (via Wise), which is quite unusual for a GPT site.

Overall, Timebucks offers some great payment methods in my opinion.

You can get paid as soon as you have earned $5, which is a nice low payout threshold. It is nice to be able to request a payout fairly quickly and not have to wait until you have earned a lot more, which is the case with some other survey sites.

They have recently lowered this from $10 to $5 which I think is a great improvement.

Your reward is paid out automatically as soon as you reach the payout threshold, and Timebucks processes these payouts once a week. However, if you want to wait until you have accumulated more money, you can choose to have your payment held until you manually request it.

So they have some pretty good and flexible payout options and terms.

I have personally been paid by them many times and it all works fine and it is definitely a legitimate and secure site. So if you were wondering whether Timebucks is real or fake, don’t worry – in my experience you can count on getting paid without any problems as long as you do everything honestly.

How much money can you earn?

How much money you can earn depends on a number of things. Firstly, of course, how much time you spend on TimeBucks and how many of the opportunities you choose to use. It also depends on where in the world you live.

Some countries will have more surveys and wall opportunities than others. But because there are so many different ways to earn, and many of them are independent of your location, it is possible for everyone to earn some extra cash.

However, it will be easier for you to earn if you live in a country where there are regular surveys and wall offers. Wherever you live, you can also invite others to join you, which can be a great way to earn extra money.

Just be aware that, as with any survey or GPT site, you should not expect to make a living from it. You can make some nice extra money on the side, but if you expect to become rich, you will be disappointed.

Can you use Timebucks on your mobile?

There are a lot of advantages to being able to use a GPT site on your mobile – especially a site like Timebucks, which has lots of small and easy tasks that you can do whenever you have a bit of time in the day.

There is actually a Timebucks app that you can download and use. However, it is called Timebucks Surveys and is quite different from most of the other GPT apps.

You can download the Timebucks Surveys app from Google Play.

You will not find all the ways to earn Timebucks, only certain types of surveys. Once you have downloaded the app, you need to connect it to your Timebucks account.

You do this by going to your profile settings in your Timebucks account, where you will find something called a Timebucks Connect code. You will need this to log in to the app.

At the moment you can only download the app for Android devices.

But if you want to use Timebucks from other devices or if you want to access all the earning options from your mobile, you can also just open Timebucks through your browser on any device and it is optimised for mobile.

Some tasks can only be done on mobile. So it is definitely a good idea to check out what Timebucks has to offer on mobile.

Who can join?

No matter where in the world you live, you can join TimeBucks. The options will vary depending on the country you are from.

But compared to other sites, it has a large number of opportunities even if you live in a country where there are not many survey opportunities.

The content you can see, the Instagrams, the people you can invite, the competitions, the tasks and the videos you can watch will be available for most countries. And you can even find surveys and offers in most countries, although it may take a bit of patience in some countries.

Can you get support?

Yes, you can get support if you need it. TimeBucks has a support service that will get back to you fairly quickly if you need help.

I have tested this myself, so I know that the support staff are friendly and good at getting back to you, which is important for any service or platform.

Final Verdict

TimeBucks is definitely NOT a scam, but it is a legitimate GPT site with quite a few earning opportunities.

But to help you find out if it’s worth it for YOU, we’re going to end this review by summarising the pros and cons of TimeBucks so that you can get a better overview before deciding whether it’s for you or not.

In general, I really like TimeBucks and it is definitely a legitimate site. I think it is great that it offers some interesting and different opportunities, and also for countries where it is usually difficult to get many opportunities on survey sites.

Some of them are quite low paying though. But a lot of the things we do online are things we spend time doing anyway, so it can be great to get paid for it.

So whether it is worthwhile for you to join depends on what your expectations are and whether you find the opportunities on TimeBucks interesting.
